Eye care in Armenia

Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Closed Sundays and public holidays.

Photo ID, your health plan authorization if one applies, the glasses you currently wear, and a list of the medications you take, including eye drops. Bring someone with you: in most visits the pupils are dilated and you will not be able to drive.

We see patients through Colombian health plans, prepaid plans, insurance policies and special regimes, and also privately. Confirm your plan's coverage before you come in, because agreements change.

As a private patient you do not need a referral. Through a Colombian health plan you do need the authorization that applies to your benefit plan.

Yes. In Armenia we do the full eye exam: visual acuity, your glasses prescription through optometry, eye pressure, and examination of the back of the eye by the ophthalmologist. If it turns out you need glasses, the prescription is made up at the optical shop in the same building.

It is an eye clinic with an optical shop inside, and that is the difference. An optometrist measures your prescription; an ophthalmologist is the eye doctor who diagnoses and operates. Here you have both under one roof, so if the exam finds a cataract, glaucoma or something in the retina, you do not have to start again somewhere else.
